The 6th Annual Georgia Tech Auto Show will be held Saturday, March 28, 2009 on the Georgia Tech campus. Motor vehicles of all types owned by students, former students, faculty, staff, alumni, fans, and corporate sponsors of Georgia Tech will be on display. Classic antique cars, late model modified cars, 4x4 off road trucks, hot rods, cars modified with alternative power delivery (electric, fuel cell), daily-driven transportation, kit cars, race cars, concept cars, prototype cars, and all kinds of motorcycles are all encouraged to participate. Automobiles ranging from extremely rare classics in show condition to unfinished student-budget projects are welcome and appreciated. If the owner takes pride in the vehicle, it has a place in this show.

The show is open and free to the public for viewing the cars on display.  Children are especially welcome, but please make sure that they are well supervised so that they do not touch any vehicle without the owner's permission.

Prizes will be awarded to the best cars and motorcycles of various categories. Only cars and motorcycles owned by those directly affiliated with Georgia Tech will be eligible for judging and prizes. Those interested in participating who are not a Georgia Tech student, former student, faculty, staff, fan, or alumnus will be able to register a vehicle by invitation only.

Those interested in showing a car can enter via the registration link on the home page of this web site. A tax deductible donation sent to the Georgia Tech Foundation is suggested along with the registration.  This donation is NOT REQUIRED for full participation.  Donations are suggested at $15 for student entries, $35 for faculty and staff, and $75 for alumni. (Motorcycles: $7/$17/$37) Additional vehicles entered by one participant will be the same donation suggestion as a motorcycle. If you do not choose to make a donation to the foundation through this event, we assume that you may be supporting the foundation through other avenues. Funds raised above the operating expense of the show will be deposited into the Georgia Tech Foundation account for the support and renovation of the Student Competition Building. This building supports the activities of the GT Motorsports, GT OffRoad, RoboJackets, WreckRacing, and other student design teams representing Georgia Tech in international competitions.
Car placement will begin “rain or shine" at 10:00AM in the Instructional Center parking lot on the Georgia Tech campus located between the Instructional Center, Student Center Parking Deck (Clydeck), and the Student Athletic Center (SAC). A printable map is linked from the home page of this web site. Free spectator parking will be available in a parking deck in the same area. Judging will begin at 11:00 AM and conclude at 1:00 PM. An awards ceremony featuring a speaker from the automotive industry will be held at 2:00pm in the Tannenbaum Auditorium near the displayed autos. Previous speakers have included Norman Garrett (2004), Huibert Mees (2005), Franco Cimatti (2006), Bryan Nesbitt (2007), and Paul Lomangino (2008).

Food vendors will be present but non-alcoholic tailgating will also be allowed and encouraged.

Please join us for this celebration of technology and design.

This event is the result of a growing informal band of enthusiasts with a vision. Drawn primarily from the mechanical engineering and industrial design disciplines, this group is comprised of students (undergraduate and graduate), faculty, staff, alumni, and fans of Georgia Tech. The goal is to have fun and to enjoy the unique character of the Georgia Tech community around an area of technology and design that it has influenced greatly.
