Who and What

  • Motor vehicles of all types owned by students, former students, faculty, staff, alumni, fans, and corporate sponsors of Georgia Tech will be on display.
  • Classic antique cars, late model modified cars, 4×4 off road trucks, hot rods, cars modified with alternative power delivery (electric, fuel cell), daily-driven transportation, kit cars, race cars, concept cars, prototype cars, and all kinds of motorcycles are all encouraged to participate.
  • Automobiles ranging from extremely rare classics in show condition to unfinished student-budget projects are welcome and appreciated.
  • If the owner takes pride in the vehicle, it has a place in this show.

Time & Place

  • Saturday, April 3, 2010
  • Start time: 11 AM
  • Held on the Georgia Tech Campus, at the Instructional Center Parking lot at the corner of Ferst Drive and Means Street. This lot is located between the Student Center Parking Deck, the Student Athletic Center (SAC), and the Instructional Center/Former Management Building.
  • The show will be held rain or shine. If rain is forecast, the show will be moved into a covered parking deck nearby. Return to this web site for more information in case of severe weather cancellation.  Believe it or not, it was snowing at the 2005 show but the activities continued.

Food

FoodVending medFood vendors will be present at the show but non-alcoholic tailgating will also be allowed and encouraged.


Fees

Spectators:

  • Viewing of the show is free and open to the public.
  • Children are especially welcome, but please make sure that they are well supervised so that they do not touch any vehicle without the owner’s permission.
  • Free spectator parking will be available in a parking deck .

Entrants:

  • There are no fees to enter a vehicle into the show.
  • If,  however you would like to make a tax deductible donations to support the Georgia Tech Foundation, suggested donations are $15 for student entries, $35 for faculty and staff, and $75 for alumni. (Motorcycles: $7/$17/$37)  Additional vehicles entered by the same participant will be the same donation suggestion as a motorcycle.
  • To donate, entrants may do so with a check made payable to the Georgia Tech Foundation acct. # 25000257 and send it to the following address:A donation is not required and has no connection with your ability to fully participate in the show. A letter of acknowledgment for your donation will be sent for tax purposes.Attention: Tom Lawley, Mechanical Engineering

  • We know and appreciate that many of our entrants are already heavy supporters of Ga Tech and therefor donations are not required.

Registration

  • All Georgia Tech Faculty, Staff,  Students, Alums, and fans may register their vehicle in the show. To register simply fill out and submit our online registration form.
  • Registration deadline is midnight on Wednesday, the week of the show. Cars that come in after that or show up the day of the show will not be displayed in the main show area but will be routed to the spectator area. Only cars registered before the deadline will be eligible for judging or prizes. Show space is limited to the first 300 vehicles and will likely fill up ahead of even the deadline. Submit a registration early to reserve a space for your entry.

Prizes

  • Prizes will be awarded to the best cars and motorcycles of various categories. The vehicles will be judged by popular vote from the spectators and entrants.
  • An awards ceremony featuring a speaker from the automotive industry will be held at 2:00pm in the Tannenbaum Auditorium near the displayed autos. Previous speakers have included Norman Garrett (2004), Huibert Mees (2005), Franco Cimatti (2006), Bryan Nesbitt (2007), Paul Lomangino (2008) and Robert Englar (2009).

Entrants’ Instructions

  • There will be trailer parking for participants not driving their cars to the show along Ferst Drive between the parking deck and the student center.
  • There will be a car detailing area, with a hose for washing,  for those that want to wash up on Saturday morning. It will be near the Erskin Love Building  and you can find the  exact location refer on our Map.
  • Car placement will begin “rain or shine” at 10:00AM in the Instructional Center parking lot on the Georgia Tech campus located between the Instructional Center, Student Center Parking Deck (Clydeck), and the Student Athletic Center (SAC). A printable map is linked from the home page of this web site.
  • Judging will begin at 11:00 AM and conclude at 1:00 PM.
