Home / FAQs

When?

Saturday, March 30, 2013. Spectators to arrive at 11 AM. Entrants invited to arrive as early as 10 AM. Only vehicles brought on trailers will be allowed into the show area before 10 AM. Only tractor trailers will be allowed access to the show area before 9 AM.

Where?

“Instructional Center Parking lot” at the corner of Ferst Drive and Means Street. This is between the Student Center Parking Deck, the Student Athletic Center (SAC), and the Instructional Center/Former Management Building. Refer to the printable “Time & Place”

Why is it so #*%#! expensive to enter this show!

The show doesn’t cost a thing to enter. It is absolutely free. The suggested donation is listed to help those that would like to make a donation through this event. Any amount, including nothing, is fully acceptable. Many of the entrants give thousands and even millions of dollars to Georgia Tech in other ways, so donating through this event would be redundant for them. Others are just getting back in touch with Georgia Tech, and do not feel comfortable donating anything. The organizers are simply passionate about the participation of the Georgia Tech community.

Will the show be canceled if it is raining?

The show will be held rain or shine. If rain is forecast, the show will be moved into a covered parking deck nearby. Return to this web site for more information in case of severe weather cancellation. Believe it or not, it was snowing at the 2005 show but the activities continued.

Will alcohol be allowed as part of the tailgating?

Unfortunately, adult beverages will not be allowed on campus as a part of this year’s event.

How will the vehicles be judged?

It is not the intention of the organizers for the judging to be the focus of this particular event. This year a series of prizes will be awarded by a panel of judges. This is a little different than previous years but the hope is that the chages will result in more interaction between our various fans

Will there be a car detailing area for those that want to wash up on Saturday morning?

Yes, the area near the Erskin Love Building will be provided with a hose for washing. For the exact location refer to the “Time and Place” link on this web site. This site will be operational by 1pm on the Friday before the show.

Will there be trailer parking for participants not driving their cars to the show?

Yes, trailers should be parked along Ferst Drive between the parking deck and the Student Center.

How many cars will be at the show?

The organizers will keep the 2013 show to a number under 300 automobiles.

Can I register on the day of the show?

No, only cars registered through the website by midnight on Saturday, March 30th, 2013 will be displayed in the main show area. Additional cars will be routed to the spectator area and will not be eligible for judging or prizes. Show space is limited and will likely fill up ahead of even the March 30th deadline. Submit a registration early to reserve a space for your entry.

How do I register?

The registration link is now active. Find the “Register” link on the home page of this web site. Fill out the information and note that only a few fields are required. Note that an address is listed for sending in the suggested donation in check form made out to the Georgia Tech Foundation. The address is Tom Lawley, Mechanical Engineering, Georgia Tech Auto Show, MRDC 3210, Atlanta, Ga 30332-0405. Please make sure the check has “2013 Auto Show” on the comment line. The donation is not required and has no connection with your ability to fully participate in the show. A letter of acknowledgment for your donation will be sent for tax purposes.

Do spectators need to purchase a ticket or pay for entrance?

There is no entrance or parking fee for spectators. Viewing of the show is open to the public.

What type of cars will be on display?

This auto show is for cars and motorcycles of all types and conditions. However, only Georgia Tech students, former students, faculty, staff, alumni, fans, and corporate sponsors are invited to participate by displaying a vehicle. If you are affiliated with Georgia Tech we want you to display your ride.
